Our Johnson City Church is in the
process of change. In a sense we are going back
to our "roots." Traditionally, our
church has placed an emphasis on "truth"
which is very important, but there is a growing
awareness that somehow we have failed to give equal
emphasis to "fellowship."
It is easy for many of our members
to come to the church for the Sabbath morning worship
service and then live independent of the church body
the rest of the week. Is this really what God had
in mind when He established His church? God gave
us a model of what church will be like when the
"Spirit" is leading, In Acts 2:42 we
read, "They devoted themselves to the
apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the
breaking of bread and to prayer." The early
church was like a family that shared life

together, sacrificing for those in
need, holding each other accountable, and praying for
each other.
Our conviction is that God is
leading the Johnson City Church back to this kind of
sharing of each other's lives. By a humbling of our
hearts, a genuine repentance, and an opening of
ourselves to meet each others needs, through His grace
we are seeking to fulfill His will for His people.
We are excited about what is happening in our
church. Many members are discovering their spiritual
gifts and becoming actively involved in ministry.
Decisions are being made that will influence
lives for the future and into eternity. We look
forward to all that God has planned for us as He uses
us to prepare a people for the second coming of our
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. —Pastor
